SUE PATON
I'm interested in Book Arts, I construct books from various materials, each one designed for a particular project. Being a member of the group has helped me to explore not only different ways of drawing but different ways to create books. Our show & tell sessions get people talking about their own art, and
sometimes thats all you need to set you off on a new & interesting journey!
For our recent Park Life project I made several books about Roath Park, on various aspects of the life to be found there. I made books about lovers, birds, flowers, bugs and the conservatory, and displayed them in a small wooden rowing boat. Drawing with a pen straight onto beautiful handmade watercolour paper with no roughs to follow keeps drawing exciting for me - and stops me making mistakes!
After a 3 year course in Textile Design, I spent several decades working in many areas of art & design including animation, illustration, TV & film, interiors and teaching. I'm currently doing the excellent BA Fine Art Practice at University of Glamorgan Cardiff. I also tutor privately in watercolour, drawing, acrylics and bookbinding.
In my Book Arts practice I am interested in combining textiles, jewellery, animation, drawing, painting, sculpture - in fact all areas of art & design - to create new & exciting book forms.
