CP Snow wrote about the two cultures, science and the arts and the difficulty they find communicating with each other.
However, engineers and architects commonly communicate by drawings as well as words so perhaps to some extent we bridge the cultural divide.

I am an engineer; I have a degree in engineering and am a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. During my National Service I taught engineering drawing in the Royal Air Force and subsequently spent many years involved with the design and construction of large process plants. At work I found that in addition to formal technical drawings, cartoony sketches could make a uniquely useful contribution to understanding even complicated technical processes and were also particularly useful in preventing audiences from dropping off!
As long as I can remember, I have also been drawing for fun, amusing friends and family by illustrating people, situations or places.
When I retired I started attending classes to improve my understanding of drawing and painting techniques. Now I provide illustrations (usually pen and ink or pen and wash) for my wife's booklets on classical Greece as well as drawings and watercolours for my own amusement and even, occasionally, for sale.
